TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Witnesses say two teens charged with first degree murder for their involvement in the slaying of a Topeka woman fled the scene before the shooting.
A joint preliminary hearing wrapped up late Wednesday for Jimmy Netherland and Daquan Wilkins. They are being tried as adults for last July's shooting death of Natalie Gibson during a robbery in her driveway.
Gibson's partner was injured in the holdup and testified at the hearing.
Netherland was bound over on 16 counts, including first degree murder.
Wilkins will stand trial on 11 charges, also including murder. He was not bound over on three counts of aggravated burglary and counts of theft and aggravated robbery.
Two other minors and four adults also are charged in the case, as well as a string of other breakins from last summer, including one where a man's dog was shot and killed.
