Topeka, Kan (WIBW) - Two restaurants in Lawrence have been honored by Wine Spectator with the 2012 "Award of Excellence" for "having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world."

TEN Restaurant at the Eldridge Hotel and FIVE 21 Restaurant at The Oread are the only two restaurants in Lawrence to win this designation in 2012.

The award will be listed in the annual dining guide in the August 31 issue of Wine Spectator Magazine which hit newsstands July 24.

The "Award of Excellence" requires a minimum selection of 100 wines and is based on varied selection, assessment of presentation and accurate information including appellations, vintages and special designations that thematically match a restaurants cuisine.

"We are working hard to create an excellent choice and experience for our restaurant's wine connoisseurs and aficionados in Lawrence and throughout the region and are honored to accept these awards," said General Manager Nancy Longhurst of the Olivia Collection which includes The Eldridge/TEN Restaurant and The Oread's Five 21 Restaurant.
