TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - An accident involving five vehicles in southwest Topeka Monday night sent two people to the hospital.
It happened around 6 pm at SW 21st and Stutley Road.
The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office says a car traveling west on 21st was stopped, waiting to turn into a driveway. An SUV coming up behind didn't notice the stopped vehicle right away and the driver swerved into a ditch and hit a utility pole to avoid a collision. That driver suffered facial injuries.
Another vehicle following the SUV rear-ended the turning car, suffering a nose injury from the airbag deploying. A private vehicle took that driver to the hospital later.
The collision set off a chain reaction with two more vehicles rear-ending cars in front of them. No one in those vehicles or in the turning vehicles was hurt.
