TOPEKA, Kan, (WIBW)-- Topeka firefighters endured a hectic beginning of the week early Monday, battling flames at a north Topeka home and a restaurant across town a couple hours later.

The morning began around 3:00 a.m. with a blaze at an empty home in the 1500 block of NW Eugene Street. Firefighters said that same house caught fire in June. That blaze left the house was a total loss.

The home was fully involved by the time emergency crews arrived on Monday morning. Because the earlier blaze left the home unstable, firefighters took a defensive stance and were able to bring the blaze under control in about 45 minutes.

It took them another four hours or so to put out all of the hotspots.

A fire investigator determined the fire was intentionally set. The cause of the original fire wasn't released, but it reportedly happened during renovations, while the owners were out of town. It wasn't believed to be suspicious.

The investigator estimated the dollar loss of Monday's fire at zero. That follows the house being ruled a total loss last June.

No one was hurt in the fire.
