TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Twin brothers face federal charges after allegedly robbing a Check Into Cash store in Topeka earlier this month, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Charles Lamar Steele and Lamar Ray Steele each face a lone count of robbery.

Charles Steele is accused of entering the store, 3711 S.W. Plaza Drive, on June 4, 2014, carrying a gun. He reportedly grabbed a clerk by her wrist and forced her to go over to the cash drawers. He demanded money, threatening to kill her if she did not comply.

He then allegedly hit her with the gun and took her to the front of the store where he ordered her to lay on the ground and keep her head down until he was gone.

Surveillance photos revealed another man holding the front door and talking on a cell phone when his brother walked in. Using those pictures and phone records, authorities were able to tie Lamar Steele to his brother's phone number. Investigators determined he helped plan the robbery.

They face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison with a potential fine of up to $250,000. The FBI and Topeka Police Dept. joined in the investigation of the case.
