TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Shawnee County judge has postponed the trial for a mother and son accused of killing the son's estranged wife.
Manuela and Manuel Alcala were scheduled to go to trial July 1st in the October 2012 death of 34-year-old Ashley Alcala at her home in Topeka.
Shawnee County Assistant District Attorney Jacqie Spradling tells 13 News the judge granted a defense request to delay it until October 7th.
She says they wanted more time to review a recent statement from a co-defendant in the case.
Two other men also face charges, including Manuel's brother.
