Topeka, Kan. (WIBW)_ Topeka police were still on the scene early Sunday afternoon, standing guard outside of 1427 NE Winfield. Police say that is where the city's latest homicide victim, 24-year-old Vincent G. Lambert Jr., was killed.
Just after 12 p.m. Sunday, officers entered the home. An officer on the scene told 13 News that a search warrant finally was executed on the property. While on scene around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, it appeared authorities recovered a gun from outside of the home.
Police say Lambert was shot Saturday around 8:30 a.m. at 1427 NE Winfield, inside the home. Officers responded and found Lambert with a gunshot wound. A neighbor says he heard about 15 gunshots.
Lambert was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Saturday's slaying marks the city's 14th homicide of 2010.
Police are not saying anything about suspects or a motive.
