TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka police say Stephen Coen, age 29 of Topeka, is dead after a shooting at 1900 N.W. Lyman around 8:10 p.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, police say they noticed a vehicle hit a tree on the westside of the park. Police say it appeared that there were two people that had been shot inside the vehicle. Police say Coen was dead and that Oliver Evans, age 21 of Topeka, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the Evans remained unknown into early Monday afternoon.
On Monday, police announced 28-year-old Marshall Stewart IV of Topeka was arrested on charges of first-degree murder in connection with Coen's death. Police say he was arrested in the 600-block of S.W. Harrison and was taken into custody without incident.
