Topeka Police Investigate 2 Shooting Calls

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka Police Detectives are investigating two shooting calls officers responded to Monday night.

The first happened at 11:27 p.m. Officers responded to the area of the 1000 block of SE Lime on several gunshots in the area. Another call came in to police about five minutes later, at 11:32 p.m., of several gunshots in the area of 21st Street and Kansas Avenue.

A local hospital called authorities at 11:39 p.m. to report that a man had been taken to the hospital by a private vehicle and was suffering a non life-threatening gunshot wound. That investigation led police to 1035 SE Lawrence, where they discovered the shooting occurred.

Police said there was no suspect information as of early Tuesday morning.

Officers found a vehicle in the 2600 block of South Kansas that had been disabled by gunfire. The driver was located and not injured, police say. The driver was uncooperative with officers on the scene. It is unknown if these calls are related. Detectives are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 368-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
