Topeka Man Recovering After Being Shot In His Own Home

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka man is okay after being shot twice Sunday morning in his own home.

Police responded to reports of a shooting early Sunday morning at 2229 SE Adams St.

Homeowner Mark Bailey says when he came home around 4:00 a.m., he found two people inside -- something he was not expecting.

"I realized the back door was opened,' said Bailey. "I realized something was amiss and by the time I got to the side of my laundry room I saw two guys standing there and one of them had a gun. I dove at the guy with the gun and he shot me through the top of my shoulder. I ducked down, snatched the gun out of his hands and wrestled with him. I tossed him to the ground and then ran off with the gun and they took off in the other direction."

Officials transported Bailey to Stormont-Vail where he was treated and released.
