TOPEKA, KANSAS – The Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office today filed charges against Jason Hachmeister, 37, Topeka, Kan., charging him with one count of murder in the first degree, an off-grid person felony.

The filed complaint stems from the September 10th 201l killing of Sheila R. Hachmeister, 58, Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Hachmeister was taken into custody by the Topeka Police Department and is currently being held by the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.

The Topeka Police Department investigated the incident. Shawnee County Assistant District Attorney Todd Hiatt is the prosecuting attorney.

As in all criminal cases, a person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The charging document filed merely contains allegations of criminal conduct.
