TOPEKA,Kan. (WIBW) Topeka Regional Airport is gearing up for United Airline's arrival!
Topeka Regional Airport President Eric Johnson led 13 News on a tour to go behind the scenes to see the last minute preparations before United Airlines jet service takes off January 7th.
Workers are building new cabinets for the ticket counters. Johnson says the airport offers shorter security lines, a new internet lounge and new seating areas.
"The terminal building overall is just freshened up, it's new paint, new carpets, new upholstery, Wi-fi is available to the passengers," says Johnson.
United Airlines will have non-stop service to Chicago, connecting to more than 130 cities around the world with 2 jet flights a day. Johnson says his goal is to provide a convenient travel experience for all flyers.
"Everything is working to promote ease, the parking, the check in, the screening its phenomenal," says Johnson.
Parking will be a flat rate of $5 for unlimited amount of time. The service is marketed at United Express, and operated by Express Jet Airlines, using a 50 seat Embraer jet aircraft.
Flights depart daily at 6 a.m. and 2:54 p.m. with flights arriving in Topeka from Chicago daily at 2:24 p.m. and 10:05 p.m.
