TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__The Topeka Public Schools Foundation received a hefty contribution in hopes of steering more students towards higher education.
On Friday AT&T presented $10,000 to officials from the Topeka Public Schools Foundation which will help support students in Bridges to the Future program and the Advancement Via Individual Determination programs which prepare students for college and career success.
While the 10k contribution immediately will help fund seven scholarships for students already accepted into Washburn Institute of Technology, the impact will be far reaching.
TPS Foundation Executive Director Pamela Johnson-Betts said, "Our students see community leaders stepping up and saying you are very important to us and we are going to show you how important by giving you scholarship dollars to advance and dream and do innovative things."
The $10,000 dollars will also help obtain AVID program supplies and allow 157 students to attend multicultural pride day and leadership conferences.
