TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka Police were investigating a spray of gunfire outside a convenience store Monday night.
Officers were called just after 9 pm to the Kwik Shop near SW 37th and Humboldt. At that same time, they received reports of shots fired at a vehicle about a block away, at SE 37th and Girard.
Officers at the scenes were marking what appeared to be locations of several shell casings. Lt. Chuck Haggard said, at the Kwik Shop, the store, gas pumps and a Red Box rental station all were hit by bullets. The vehicle was towed from the scene with several bullet holes and flat tires.
So far, no reports of any people injured by the shots. Police also had not put out a description of any suspects. Haggard confirmed reports people were seen running from the area. However, he said it wasn't known if they were involved in the incident or simply bystanders seeking cover from the gunfire.
