TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka man arrested last Friday in connection with an attempted drowning of a four year old girl has been formally charged.
Brian Mahkuk, 37, was charged Tuesday with kidnapping and aggravated battery.
Topeka Police say almost two weeks ago a girl was walking with a friend in the 1400 block of NE Quincy when Mahkuk approached, took her to a nearby yard and held her underwater in a swimming pool. A witness was able to get the child and bring her to safety.
Mahkuk's next court date will be on July 31.
