TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka fire crews were on the scene of a house fire Friday night.
The incident was reported around 8:15 pm. Firefighters arrived at 406 SE Market Street, which is near Scott Elementary School, to see smoke coming from the house. The elderly man who lives in the home was on the porch. Firefighters assisted him the rest of the way to safety but he was not injured.
Fire officials say smoke was confined to the attic, with some water damage to other areas. They're still investigating what caused it, but suspect an electrical issue.
Crews remained on the scene a couple hours later continuing to ventilate the home.
