TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A soon-to-be-seven-year-old Topeka boy is a champion!

Keith Herd was named this year's Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champion for the state of Kansas.

Keith will help fundraise and bring awareness to St. Francis and all the member hospitals around the nation.

Keith has a heart condition that required a prosthetic heart valve and pacemaker before he was seven months old. The Children's Miracle Network provided funds to St. Francis for special equipment that allows Keith's oxygen and blood levels to be monitored at home.

He'll help illustrate why donated funds are needed for treatment and recovery, as well as charitable care.

This fall, Keith gets to take an ambassador trip to Washington, D.C. and Orlando, Florida with all the other champions from the U.S.
