TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - It's a go for an expansion at a Topeka area kennel.
Shawnee County Commissioners Monday approved a 9,300 square foot addition onto Dog Day Afternoon -- the doggy dude ranch business off 10th and Urish, west of Topeka.
Planning Director Barry Beagle says the kennel operates under a special use permit that was approved 43 years ago.
Current owners Phil and Julie Castaneda have operated their business there since the year 2000.
"It would be a dramatic improvement with regard to their operations, it would modernize things, give them the space they need to conduct their operation," said Beagle.
The building will be four times larger than the existing building.
