TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - It's unclear when Topeka City Council members might make their choice for city manager.
Council members spent more than an hour Saturday with each of the two finalists. Margie Rose is assistant city manager in Corpus Christi, Texas and Jim Colson is deputy city manager of Glendale, Arizona.
Deputy Mayor Larry Wolgast said Monday that the council will discuss the candidates in executive session during their Tuesday work session. He says he's unsure if any action will be taken during their regular meeting. He said council members want to consider both what was learned during the interviews and also feedback from community members who visited with them at a public meet-and-greet Friday night.
Wolgast also wasn't sure at what point of the process council members would reveal their choice, be it before negotiations begin or when a final contract came to vote.
The council is seeking a permanent replacement for Norton Bonaparte, who left last summer under a separation agreement. When Bonaparte was hired in 2006, the council revealed their choice when they directed staff to begin negotiating a contract with him.
