TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Three graduates were honored Thursday for turning their lives around.

All three were formerly homeless and have successfully completed the 13 week Topeka Moving Ahead Program.

During that time, the graduates found jobs, received assistance in finding permanent housing, and even completed real world internships.

Barry Feaker, Executive Director of the Topeka Rescue Mission, served as the keynote speaker for Thursday's graduation ceremony.

He says it's moments like these that make his job so rewarding.

"Being around over 27 years, I know a lot of folks in this community who at one time in their life were homeless, and today are doing quite well and to call them my friends and be able to see them everywhere in the community, keeps you going," said Feaker.

Feaker says there's only one other program like this in the country -- that's in Boston.
