Three Car Pile-Up On K-18 Sends One To Hospital

RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A three car accident on K-18 sent one person to the hospital Monday night and caused rush hour traffic back-ups.

The crash happened at 5 PM just west of the Manhattan Airport on K-18, near mile marker 181.

Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol say the driver of a Mazda SUV was eastbound in the right lane of K-18 when he took his eyes off road and rear-ended a Ford passenger car which was slowing down for stopped traffic. As a result of the impact, the Ford was then pushed into the back of a third vehicle, a Toyota passenger car.

A passenger in the Mazda SUV, 21-year-old Juan Rivera of Manhattan, was transported to Irwin Army Community Hospital on Fort Riley with what troopers said were minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.
