The Sweet Sounds Of Poetry Filled The Halls At Brown Vs Board Of Education

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- From classic jazz music to the sounds and dance moves of the 1950s to poetry. This month is packed with Black History Month events.

Powerful words were read by five women at a poetry slam earlier today. The poetry slam is one of the many events put on by the Brown vs Board of Education to celebrate Black History Month and to invite the community to take part in its history.

Five local poets, part of the Black Women's Network gave backgrounds on the ancestry of their families and then shared their stories to a crowd.
