The Jewish Holiday Yom Kippur Starts Today

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Today marks the Jewish Holy Day of Yom Kippur.

Judaism's holiest day of the year begins this evening and ends Wednesday at sundown.

Yom Kippur is a day of atonement when Jews ask God to forgive them for their transgressions.

The Jewish Community of Topeka dates back to 1868, not long after the city's founding.

Today, Temple Beth Sholom in Topeka is the center of life for 125 families.
