The Governor Wants To Boost Reading Scores In Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- The Governor wants Kansas students reading in 2013.

Governor Sam Brownback says he has seen progress in 3 out of the 5 goals he set for Kansas schools last year.

Now his next goal is to get Kansas students reading at grade level.
The governors 2013 legislative session will include more focus and resources on fourth-grade reading.

The Kansas Department of Education is reporting that 64% of Kansas fourth-graders score below the proficient level on the National Assessment of Education tests in 20-11.
