TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A teenager is recovering after being hit by a trailer near a busy Topeka intersection Saturday evening.

The incident happened near 17th and Southwest Topeka Blvd. around 2:45 p.m.

The trailer was being pulled buy a pickup truck and was heading South on Topeka. Officials say the boy wasn't paying attention while trying to cross the street when he was hit.

Authorities say he attempted to cross in the 1600 block of SW Topeka Blvd.

The teen, only identified as a 16 year old boy, was taken to a local hospital with a non-life threatening leg injury.
