WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE)--A 15-year-old suffered critical injuries early Sunday morning in a joyriding accident in southeast Wichita.
Wichita Police Sgt. Scott Brunow said two children, ages 12 and 9, and two 15-year-olds took their mother's rental car around 7 a.m. and went joyriding.
When the 12-year-old driving the car stopped in the 1100 block of South Quentin Street, one of the two teens got out. As the car started to drive off again, the teen jumped on the back of the it, slid off and fell on his head.
The 12-year-old then drove to Via Christi on Harry, where the teen was determined to have critical injuries and transferred to St. Francis.
The case has been turned over to the juvenile district attorney.
