TOPEKA, KAN. (WIBW)--At Wamego Country Club there was a special scramble today that'll really pull at your heart strings. Its cause was to help one dad beat a deadly disease.
Bryan Lindstrom would have loved to spend the whole day golfing with his friends.
“He coached and is a full time dad. He loves his kids. He’s part of everything they do, definitely a family guy. He just likes being around his friends,” said Bryan’s brother Brad Lindstrom.
But that's not always possible these days…
“We have to go to the hospital to see him a lot,” said Bryan’s daughter Brooke Lindstrom.
The 38-year old father of two was recently diagnosed with intestinal cancer.
“His stomach hurts a lot when he gets chemo. He's not feeling good at all,” said Bryan’s son Tagen.
His friends took time today to say a prayer. Then they teed off to show their support. 57-four man teams turned out for "Birdies for Bryan."
“We're here to support him. All of our efforts, all of our money, goes to his fight to cancer... The chemo bills... The doctor bills... And most importantly, because we love him,” said friend Ken Meeks.
“Bryan is a great guy. Silver Lake and his whole family is behind him,” said friend Jeff Biggs.
These golfers are on the green, taking a swing -- so that one day Tagen and Brooke's dad will be cancer free.
“We're all out here because Bryan's fighting cancer. Everyone of us in this knows at the bottom of our heart that he'll beat this,” continued Meeks.
Friends say they'll do what they can to help Bryan beat it and grant his daughter's wish.
“I want my dad to not have cancer,” said Brooke Lindstrom.
Bryan and his wife Beth would like to thank everyone for all the support they’ve shown their family.
