Tecumseh Plant Cited For Exposing Workers To Hazardous Chemicals

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A Tecumseh manufacturing plant has been cited for exposing workers to flammable chemicals.

The U.S. Department of Labor fined Innovia Films, Inc. for 19 safety violations.

The plant produces film used in packaging things like cheese slices, it will have to pay penalties totaling $112,500.

A 2013 OSHA inspection determined that the lack of an appropriate process safety management program exposed employees to health and safety hazards.

Innovia Films Inc. employs 185 workers at its Tecumseh plant and more than 1,300 worldwide.
