TPD Searching For Suspect Involved In Deadly Hit-and-Run

Topeka, KAN. (WIBW)--Shawnee County authorities need your help finding a man they believe was involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident in Florida and is now in our area.

They are looking for 30-year-old Adam Lloyd Shepard. Topeka police said a ford 500, believed to be driven by Shepard, turned up in Shawnee County just north of Topeka this weekend. Deputies and the U.S. Marshals service recovered the vehicle but found it empty.

Jacksonville, Fla. police said Shepard's 2005 Acura was seen where a deadly hit-and-run occurred. That accident happened on January 22 in Jacksonville. Police there said a 35-year-old man died as a result.

Topeka police told 13 News Sunday that Shepard is believed to be from Topeka. Florida news outlets said his facebook lists the University of Kansas as his college.
