Topeka, KAN. (WIBW)--Topeka police have arrested a man behind what they first called a suspicious death. Officers responded just before 8 a.m. Tuesday to 3304 SW 29th Terrace in reference to a death.
Detectives identified the victim as 36-year-old Joanne Ahern, of Topeka. Officers began searching the area and conducted numerous interviews with neighbors. Police arrested 45-year-old Ernest Arceneaux, of Topeka, following the investigation.
Arceneaux was booked into the Shawnee County Jail Saturday on 1st degree murder. The investigation into the motive for the killing is still ongoing. This marks Topeka's 13th murder of the year.
