Suspects Caught After Robbing Restaurant Employees At Gunpoint

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Police have made multiple arrests in connection to a weekend armed robbery at a Topeka restaurant.

At about 1:00 a.m. Sunday officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress inside Red Robin off of 6th and Wanamaker.

Police say employees were forced into a back room at gunpoint but two suspects. When officers arrived, the suspects had already left the restaurant.

A handgun believed to have been used in the robbery was located at the roundabout at 6th and Wanamaker.

At about 1:30 a.m. officers located the suspects, Derick Renee Crawford, 23, and Travis Jeremy Coffman, 35, in a vehicle at 6th and Lincoln and taken into custody.

Crawford and Coffman were arrested and both charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the crime.

Crawford was also charged with aggravated assault and criminal possession of a fire arm.

Both are being held on $25,000 bond.

A victim's property taken at red robin was recovered.
