RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- The man who held police at bay for several hours during a standoff at a Riley County trailer has accepted a plea deal with the state connection with the incident.

Brian Elliston, 32, appeared in Riley County District Court Monday morning and entered pleas of no contest to Aggravated Assault, Criminal Threat, Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Marijuana.

At 1:45 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2012,, the Riley County Police Department received a report of a domestic disturbance at a trailer inside the Tuttle Terrace Mobile Home Park off of Highway 24, not far from where it intersects with North Seth Child Road.

An injured female victim managed to get to a neighbor's home and call for help, alleging that she had been battered by her boyfriend during the altercation.

She told officers when they arrived that the suspect, Elliston, was still inside the home they shared at Lot 23 and that he had several weapons.

Elliston barricaded himself inside the trailer when police showed up and a standoff ensued. Nearby mobile homes were evacuated, a perimeter was set up and the entrances to the trailer court were blocked off. The RCPD Tactical Team and Hostage Negotiations Team were called to the scene in an attempt to make contact and negotiate with Elliston.

Elliston eventually surrendered to police without incident after a nearly six-hour standoff and was taken into custody.

Prosecutors say Elliston faces around three years in prison.
