JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Sundown Salute festivities are in full swing in Junction City, attracting some 35,000 people over the next several days to celebrate the July 4th holiday and our nation's independence.

Following a parade Wednesday morning, Fort Riley soldiers were on hand for a ceremony at Heritage Park honoring veterans, fallen soldiers and all of the troops who have fought for our freedoms.

A carnival and family-friendly activities continued throughout the day, leading up to live musical performances and a fireworks extravaganza at 10 PM.

Sundown Salute continues through Saturday in downtown Junction City.
