TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The detour for the Highway 24 project in North Topeka saw a road block itself Wednesday night.
Authorities say a tractor trailer rig trying to make the turn from Menninger Road to head south on North Kansas Avenue got stuck. One rear wheel on the trailer went off into the ditch, causing it to tilt precariously, though it didn't tip completely on its side.
Traffic on North Kansas was blocked while crews worked to free up the big rig.
Those streets serve as the designated detour route for the Highway 24 / North Topeka Boulevard interchange reconstruction project. Topeka Boulevard is closed from just south of Highway 24 to Menninger Road. Drivers trying to get back to Topeka Boulevard were forced to find another way around.
