TOPEKA -- Kansas Securities Commissioner Aaron Jack has partnered with the 2011 Women & Money Series to help women of all ages increase their financial knowledge, develop confidence in decision making and gain control of their lives through informed money management.

The seven-week series was developed by women for women and will take place in Topeka, tonight through October 20th at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings.

Speaking on the importance of the event, Commissioner Jack stated, “The Women & Money Series is excellent and needed. I am convinced that understanding personal finance and being financially literate are absolutely essential to personal responsibility. This series will empower women to make better investment decisions for themselves and their families.”

KSC’s donation will help defray the cost of books and materials each woman will receive. For the first time this year the Series will also be accessible through i-tv or interactive long-distance learning made possible by the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.

Securities Commission staffers, Kathy Diehl, Director of Compliance; Erin Hoestje-Associate General Counsel-Corporate Finance; and Shannon Stone, Director of Investor Education, will also offer presentations during the month of October for the Women and Money Series.
