TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The City of Topeka's Municipal Court is urging those with outstanding balances with the Court to use their 2013 tax refund to eliminate those debts.
Many cases are referred to collection, which incurs collection fees and interest. Currently, there are 29,538 municipal court cases in collection.
Anyone with an outstanding balance should contact the court and arrange for payment. For those receiving income tax refunds in the next few months, it is possible to negotiate a lump sum payment of the balance.
The city will accept a discounted amount in exchange for a substantial payment in certain circumstances.
If interested in a negotiated settlement, call 785-368-3776.
