Stanley Sets Departure Date

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka's interim city manager Dan Stanley has set a date for his departure.

In an email sent Tuesday morning, Stanley told council members he'll step down effective, June 1st. Stanley cited family concerns, as he has since announcing last November he would not seek the job on a permanent basis.

In his statement, Stanley said, "It has been an honor to serve the citizens and the city of Topeka."

Stanley has served as interim city manager since July 2011, when Norton Bonaparte vacated the position.

A Florida search firm placed an ad earlier this month, saying they'd have someone hired by June.

Complete statement from Dan Stanley:

Because family concerns make it impossible for me to remain in my position of Interim City Manager until a permanent City Manager is hired and in place and to provide the City of Topeka some time and predictability in making appropriate arrangements, I therefore resign my position as Interim City Manager effective COB, June 1, 2012. It has been an honor to serve the citizens and the City of Topeka. Thank you for the opportunity.
