EUREKA, Kan. (KAKE/KWCH) - Authorities in Greenwood County were releasing few details Monday night on a major law enforcement action in the town.

KWCH-TV reported just after 10 pm Monday that several blocks in Eureka, which were barricaded earlier in the night, had re-opened, and most law enforcement had left the scene where they were hoping to apprehend murder suspect Kevin Welsh.

Witnesses say they saw Welsh in Eureka earlier in the day.

KAKE-TV reports that, just before 9 pm, witnesses heard three loud bangs and more law enforcement vehicles arrived on the scene.

KAKE-TV says that the sheriff did confirm whether Welsh was in custody or still on the run. He did say that any updates would have to come from the Attorney General's office Tuesday morning.

Police say Welsh is wanted for an October 2nd shooting near Eureka that left his ex-girlfriend injured and her mother and step-father dead.

Authorities have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
