Soldiers Hit The Road On Harleys Before Heading Out On Mission

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Some Fort Riley soldiers were treated to a deployment send-off treat Thursday morning.

Members of the Fort Riley Motorcycle Brigade toured through Topeka. They were invited to have lunch at Topeka Harley Davidson, spending time with their families and their cycles before heading to Afghanistan.

Sgt. Maj. Wiley Hutchison says the event was special, since many soldiers included their families in the activity.

Mike Patterson of Topeka Harley Davidson says organizers understood that the troops are about to head to a place isn't necessarily much fun, so they wanted to offer an opportunity to relax before the mission.

The soldiers are members of the 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley.
