GEARY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Officials with the Geary County Sheriff’s Department say a rollover accident near Milford Lake led to the arrest of a Fort Riley soldier over the weekend.

Private Frank E. Morris Jr., 20, of Fort Riley, was arrested at 5 AM on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Geary Community Hospital for DUI and Minor in Consumption. According to reports, Morris lost control of his car on Luttman Road, causing it to roll over.

Lt. Barb Smith, who oversees the Patrol Division, says deputies responded to the hospital in reference to victims of an injury accident.

Once they made contact with Morris, the driver, Smith says the investigation led them to believe that he had been driving under the influence. Morris was seen at the emergency room and released and then taken into custody.

Lt. Smith says Morris told deputies that his vehicle left the roadway when he swerved to miss a deer. He said some of his friends arrived on scene immediately and helped Morris and his passengers- a 19-year-old woman and 23-year-old man- get to the hospital.

Officials did not know the extent of their injuries but sources do not believe anyone was seriously injured in the accident.
