TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A man on parole for burglary and theft is back behind bars, after authorities say he took a side trip to Hawaii.

The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office is asking commissioners Thursday to approve an emergency purchase from security transport.

It's to cover the nearly $5,200 it cost to bring Eric Keller back from Hawaii.

Corrections records show he was released April 4th.

The DA's office tells us Keller then violated parole, and was arrested in Hawaii.

He's now back at the El Dorado Correctional Facility.
