TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Shawnee County Elections Office will soon have some breathing room.
Commissioners approved the motion to purchase a new building located at 3420 S.W. Van Buren Street during this morning's meeting.
The initial asking price for the building, currently owned by Yellow Freight Systems Inc., was $900,000.
The current agreement lists the building at $525,000 with a two percent buyers premium.
Workers for the Shawnee County Elections Office will move to the new building next spring.
A memo outlining the purchase had suggested a second treasurer's annex also could open at the location - but that was not mentioned today.
