TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- While long lines continue to plague Shawnee County motor vehicle offices, Sedgwick County says its motor vehicle transaction wait times are just two to five minutes.

It's been a month since a new system replaced what state revenue officials call an antiquated, 25-year-old computer system.

The delays continue in Shawnee County. Workers say a number of records were lost in translation, meaning they have to do original title work again. Workers say counties are calling each other for help, because they can't get through to the state.

Shawnee County's Motor Vehicle Office Manager Marsha Ralston says Sedgwick County must have a magic wand.

"Maybe they can share some of their secrets with the rest of the state," Ralston said.

Officials say workers will be pulling overtime on Saturday (6/16) to sift through the backlog of mailed-in transactions.
