TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A Shawnee County judge will make a decision next week on a lawsuit filed by a father of a drowned Topeka man.

The lawsuits involves 25-year-old Joshua Bryant and 30-year-old Richard Heyroth, both men drowned when their canoe capsized in the Kansas River in 2007.

District Judge Larry Hendrix said Tuesday he plans to make his decision on the matter sometime next week.

Jim Bryant the father of Joshua Bryant filed the lawsuit against the city of Topeka and the state of Kansas claiming authorities failed to adequately warn boaters of the approaching danger posed by a low-water weir.
