TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Shawnee County Health Agency is looking for a new building.
County Counselor Rich Eckert told Shawnee County Commissioners Monday morning that the health agency building was sold about a year ago.
He said the agency has another year to look for a new building. The county has hired Schwerdt Design Group to help with the search.
Officials say the options are narrowed because of where the health agency must be located.
"The building or site needs to be located near the client base it serves, it needs to be conveniently located with easy access to highways and major thoroughfares as well as buss routes, potentially even within walking distance within some base of it's
clientele," said David Heir, Project Manager For Schwerdt Design Group.
Heit says the biggest challenge right now is working with the time left to find a building and allow contractors to do work if needed.
