TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Shawnee County Department heads puckered up for a good cause.
They participated in a "kiss the pig" fundraiser for Project Topeka. Out of the four finalists, Shawnee County Appraiser Mark Hixon "won" the honor. More than $2,000 was donated to see him give the smooch!!
Much of that money was donated by one of his own employees who is passionate about Project Topeka's efforts to stock the shelves of local food pantries.
Hixon office also released some good news about Shawnee County property values today. They increased two percent compared to last year.
The Topeka Capitol Journal reports much of the increase was attributed to new construction.
