TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County's Corrections Director is calling it a career.
At their meeting Thursday morning, commissioners announced with mixed emotions that 61-year-old Dick Kline will retire, effective October 10th. Kline sent commissioners a letter notifying them of his intent two weeks ago.
Kline says he'll take advantage of an early retirement package the county offered employees. He plans to continue to work at Washburn University as an adjunct professor in criminal justice.
Kline has worked in corrections 40 years, leading the county's agency a total of 15 years in separate stints.
