Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) - Several lengthy road closures beginning Monday could be affecting your morning commutes until fall.

A half-cent sales tax funded project to improve North Topeka Boulevard between Gordon and Paramore streets begins Monday with the closure of the southbound lanes.

During the first phase, north and southbound lanes will be diverted into the northbound lanes while workers replace the current asphalt road with a new concrete one. During construction, Morse will be closed to all traffic from Topeka Boulevard and northbound traffic on Topeka Boulevard will be allowed right turns onto Fairchild, Grant and St. John streets.

Construction for this project is scheduled to be completed in mid-November.

Southwest Gage Boulevard between southwest 49th and southwest 53rd street will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday at 8 a.m. It will remain closed until November 2nd for the replacement of the southwest Gage Boulevard bridge over Colly Creek.

Intersection reconstruction beginning Monday at 4 p.m. will close eastbound and westbound K-9 from the city of Frankfort to the U.S. 77 Junction to all through traffic. Access will be maintained for local traffic only on the closed portion of K-9.

A 48 mile marked detour on state highways will be provided. The closure along K-9 is scheduled through early September.
