Several Hurt In Douglas County Crash

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW)--Eight people were injured in an accident Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 59, 2.5 miles south of Lawrence.

A 1998 Chevy Blazer was southbound when the driver of a 2003 Dodge Stratus was not paying attention to traffic in front of him and hit the back of the Blazer.

The driver of the Blazer, 58-year-old Kathryn Polsley, lost control and the vehicle began rolling end over end down the highway. The driver of the Stratus, 20-year-old Jeremiah Horseman, also lost control and came to rest on the shoulder.

Horseman was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with possible injuries but refused treatment at the hospital.

Polsley was also taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with injuries.

Other occupants in the Blazer include 31-year-old Geri Polsley, 3-year-old Rylen Polsley, 27-year-old Cynthia Plosley, 5-year-old Kaytlynne Polsley, 30-year-old Jonathan Polsley and 23-year-old Seth Polsley.

Geri Polsley was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with injuries.

Both children were properly restrained in cat seats. Rylen Polsley and Kaytlynne Polsley were both taken to Lawrence Memorial with possible injuries.

Cynthia Polsley and Seth Polsley were both ejected from the vehicle and transported to KU Medical Center in Kansas City. Seth Polsley was sitting in the rear storage area of the vehicle. It is unknown if Cynthia Polsley was wearing a seat belt.

All were wearing seat belts except Seth Polsley, Cynthia Polsley and Jonathan Polsley, who was sitting in the rear storage area of the vehicle.
