NEWBURY, Kan. (WIBW) - Friends, family and an entire community gathered to remember the life of a priest from Kansas who was murdered in Arizona.

A funeral mass for Reverend Kenneth Walker was held Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Newbury.

Walker was killed last Wednesday night in an apparent robbery at his Phoenix church. Another man, Reverend Joseph Terra was badly injured.

People who knew Reverend Walker say they will remember him for his cheerfulness and good-heart.

"He was just a very, very fine young man a fine young priest," said Father John Rickert of St. John Vianney. "He had a great personality, he was very friendly, very happy, a very light-hearted kind of fellow. He was extremely intelligent, very kind. Just the sort of fellow that everyone really enjoyed to know."

54-year-old Gary Moran faces several charges in connection with the incident.
